Visa free travel to Mongolia for German citizens

minister_of_foreign_affairs_of_mongolia_with_german_ambassadorOn May 30th, 2013 the Government of Mongolia decreed to waive visas for German citizens traveling to Mongolia for 30 days.

The decree will come into force on September 1st, 2013 and note informing this decree was presented to the German Ambassador to Mongolia – Peter Schaller by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia - L.Bold on June 17th, 2013.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, L.Bold said that “agreement between two countries to waive visas for diplomatic passport holders was the foundation for visa free travel between citizens of Germany and Mongolia. Initiative of Mongolia to allow German citizens for visa free entry to Mongolia for 30 days is an timely and appropriate step”.

Authorities hope that although such visa free regime for German citizens will not dramatically increase number of German tourists, this will facilitate to attract other visitors such as highly qualified specialists and business persons to Mongolia.
Currently, Germany ranks at 6th position by number of tourists visiting Mongolia.
