New Tourism Minister Appointed

Minister of Environment Green Development and Tourism OyunkhorolAfter about a month after leaving former Prime Minister - Altankhuyag Norov, the new PM Saikhanbileg reformed the government structure and has made nominations for cabinet positions.

The former Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has now been splitted and were integrated into other ministries. Thus, the tourism will be now the responsibility of the newly formed Ministry of Environment, Green Development and Tourism to be led by Mrs. Oyunkhorol Dulamsuren who replaces the previous Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Oyungerel Tsedevdamba.

The culture branch is now a part of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, while the sport branch is now part of the Ministry of Health and Sport.

Here is the short biography of OYUNKHOROL Dulamsuren - a Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and the Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism of Mongolia*.

Answering to questions by members of parliament before the approval of her nomination she noted that it is important to commence works aimed at the protection of environment, optimal use of natural resources based on scientific researches and increase of green belt. “As for the capital city, there’s a need to review licenses allocated for tourism purposes within Ulaanbaatar city perimeter” – she said referring to private houses and apartment complexes built at the specially protected areas of Bogd Khan Mountain under the tourism license. She also noted that her priority as the Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism will be the reduction of air pollution.
