Singapore - Ulaanbaatar regular flight launches

Singapore_Ulaanbaatar_flight_infoToday, on September 24, 2014 the national air carrier of Mongolia – MIAT Mongolian Airlines (MIAT) launched the inaugural Ulaanbaatar - Singapore flight. The flight is the first regular flight of Mongolian Airlines to Singapore.

During the inaugural flight ceremony, MIAT's CEO Jargalsaikhan Gungaa said "As Singapore is the main hub of South East Asia (for Mongolia), I believe that direct flights between Ulaanbaatar and Singapore will have a positive impact on Mongolia’s economy by boosting tourism, trade and business between two countries.”. Currently the airline operates direct flights to 9 destinations. “MIAT is targeting to serve 400,000 passengers this year and at the moment we have already reached 395,000 passengers. Thus, it seems we’re going to exceed our planned number” he added.

Besides MIAT’s CEO, the inaugural flight ceremony was also attended by high-ranking officials such as the Minister of Road and Transportation (MRT) of Mongolia – Gansukh Amarjargal, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia - Lkhagvasuren Togtokhbayar and the Head of the Air Transportation Policy & Implementation Department (MRT) – Tuya Z.

The first regular flight to Singapore was performed by a currently acquired Boeing 767-300ER aircraft piloted by captain Dorjnamjil J.

Previously, on June 19th, 2014 the national air carrier - MIAT Mongolian Airlines also launched the first regular Ulaanbaatar - Frankfurt flight.
