Chinese Culture Minister visits Mongolia

Chinese-Culture-MinisterThe Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, Cai Wu is paying official visit to Mongolia by the invitation of the Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Mongolia, Oyungerel Tsedevdamba. During the visit that takes place in September 24-25th, 2013, the officials of two Ministries have signed “Protocol on Reciprocal Organization of Cultural Days in 2014”.

 

The cultural ties between Mongolia and China have been strengthening in recent years, with both countries actively cooperating in cultural heritage preservation and restoration. The first separate agreement between Mongolia and China in cultural area was concluded back in 1994 followed by the first official visit of Chinese Cultural Minister to Mongolia in 1997. The restoration of Bogd Khaan Winter Palace museum in Ulaanbaatar was done by the Chinese non-refundable grant in 2007.

Following is the brief chronology of cultural cooperation between Mongolia and China.

1994 - Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of PRC to cooperate in the field of culture

1997 - First official visit of the Minister of Culture of China to Mongolia

2001 - National libraries of two countries signed an agreement for cooperation. According to the agreement up to 5 specialists from both countries visit each other’s country for a week to share the experiences and carry out academic research.

2004 - Cultural Days of China was organized in Mongolia

2005 - Cultural Days of Mongolia was organized in China

2007 - Restoration work of Bogd Khaan Winter Palace museum was done by the non-refundable funds from Chinese government.

2008 - Joint Sino-Mongolian field study of Mongolian long-song was launched

2009 - Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (MECS) of Mongolia and the Press Office of the People’s Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the PRC to cooperate in the field of culture

2010 - Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the Reciprocal Establishment of Cultural Centers

2010 - Memorandum of Understanding between the MECS of Mongolia and the Ministry of Culture of the PRC to cooperate in protection of intangible cultural heritage.
